Desert Lynx "When Milked, the Tiger Snake" CDr wr002

New acid-folk, well informed by Tyrannosaurus Rex, in a great DIY package from Winepress Records. Silkscreened kraft cover. Limited to 300 copies. Get 'em while they last...

Destructo Swarmbots "The Mountain ep" PG002 3" CD

A 3" CD packaged in a standard jewel-case, "The Mountain EP" finds DESTRUCTO SWARMBOTS exploring a more delicate and subtle space than previous releases. The 2 man guitar and bass team, known for it's abrasive sonic attacks, take their layers of manipulated dissonance and situate them in subtle ambient landscapes. The tracks range from "36 beautiful songs" which plays like an condensed and intensified version of Fripp and Eno's "An Index of Metals." to the somber "saving grace on an 8 hour connection" which finds the group delving into more traditional melodic structures.

the does / Breathe Stone "Sleep Deprivation Blues" CD Hand/Eye h/e012

Lower price!

the does (as in female deer, pl.) play music that is dirty, dark, and hazy. Singer Carol Anne and guitar player Neddal were brought together by their shared love of sleaze, sloppy rock ´n roll, and feedback. Originally, the idea was to sound "something like a cross between the Rolling Stones and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds." Things didn´t work out as planned. Carol couldn´t quite shake her goth background. (She refers to herself as a "recovering goth." Neddal says there´s no such thing.) Neddal couldn´t quite get the sludge out of his system. They wrote some songs. They went into the studio. When they came out they had three songs that didn´t sound anything the songs they´d been rehearsing. On the way to the studio they´d shanghaied Carol´s band mate Jim (Carol and Jim play in Toronto´s Nice Cat. Check them out, they are sludgilicious!) to sit in on drums. What started out as moody, minimal blues/punk ended up as a brooding, psychedelic, not-quite-so-minimal mix of Pussy Galore, ZZ Top, the Melvins, and My Bloody Valentine.
Breathe Stone come with an impressive pedigree. Formed on October 31, 2002 by Mr. Timothy Renner, Breathe Stone is an extension of well-known acid/psych/wyrd-folks Stone Breath. Breathe Stone´s mandate is to take the dark, haunting, acoustic folk of Stone Breath in a more electric (literally), experimental direction. Timothy is joined on these recordings by his Stone Breath band mate Sarada, Alicia of Funeral, and guitarist RA Campbell. Using such instruments as electric banjo, slide banjo, glasstamboura, dumbek, and squeezebox, along with the electric guitar, Breathe Stone conjure images of crumbling farmhouses, empty glades, overgrown paths, and lonely silhouettes in the moonlight.

The Dreams of M. Kourie CD CPR-6

The Dreams Of M. Kourie is the solo ambient project of Nathan Berlinguette, who is also known for his work in Creation Is Crucifixion, 5/5/2000 and his record label, Daft Alliance. This is the sound of stargazing, a blackened landscape of warm shimmer, that almost imperceptibly shifts and contorts, each new shape even more abstract and more black than the shape before, tracing a minimal path that simultaneously drifts beneath the sea, through subterranean caverns, amidst the vacuum of space and through the impossibility of alternate universes, the pieces and parts and sounds and arrangements are not in and of themselves mysterious, there are soft rumbles, and warm chordal swells, glistening abstract melodies, drifting gauzy shimmer, but the way they are put together, the way the sounds fall into one another, subtly mix, or rest atop one another, these are the things that turn sound into emotion, these are the aspects that are impossible to explain but precisely what make this journey special. With guest appearences by Tim Green (The Fucking Champs), Tomo and Ryan Unks (Creation Is Crucifixion, Circadia). Packaged in a two panel black sleeve, printed in metallic gold ink.

Eyeless in Gaza "Bitter Apples" CD Hand/Eye H/E020 (A-Scale020)

The 20th release on Hand/Eye finds us offering a work from one of our favorite bands and an influence from a young age, Eyeless in Gaza. 1995’s BITTER APPLES saw Eyeless In Gaza shifting the balance away from the many areas of spontaneous improvisation explored in earlier collections. BITTER APPLES saw the re-investigation of their own peculiar brand of song and avant-folk. Geared towards a live performance bias, BITTER APPLES focused on the vocal/ bass/ guitar/ drum axis - albeit very much in a distinctive individualistic EYELESS mode, perhaps closest to the DRUMMING THE BEATING HEART period in approach. Drawing on folk, imprpvised and European traditional musics, and also with a distinctive take on their own personal backrounds of pop and art-punk ethics, Eyeless In Gaza evoke a paradoxically uplifting nourishment from amongst the eclectic blend of melody and rich lyrical uplifting sound that is BITTER APPLES.

Track Listing:
1• Bushes and Briars 2• To Cry Mercy 3• Year Dot 4• No Further than the Shore 5• Jump to Glory Jane 6• Dear Light 7• Returning Over 8• Dust Alphabet 9• To Listen across the Sands 10• Likeness of Summer 11• Sorrow Came 12• Earth (Legend of Two Daughters) 13• Guide this Night 14• Bitter Apples 15• Sunset 1903 16• Harps in Heaven

Eyeless in Gaza "Streets I Ran" CD A-Scale016

Completed Oct /Nov 1994, STREETS I RAN is a sister /companion volume to that same year's LIMITED EDITION (1000 only)release, SAW YOU IN REMINDING PICTURES. Consisting of (mostly) improvised pieces, recorded live at Ambivalent Scale Studios, STREETS I RAN can also be considered as being a continuation of the PALE HANDS I LOVED SO WELL vein of E.I.G. stylings. This is a music that is richly lyrical and evocative -with much use made of non-verbal vocalisations, clattering percussion, keyboard drones and dazzling electric dissonance set within against filligree acoustic instrumentation and off-kilter use of aleatory tape manipulation. The result is a compelleing and intriguingly dense web of sound.

Fort King "Naked Shadows" CD AFR002

Drawing comparisons to some of the greats from yesteryears Laurel Canyon folk/country scene like Neil Young and Gram Parsons, to contemporaries such as psyche folksters Espers and fellow Californians Vetiver, this album is a glinting piece of gold from America's west coast alt. Folk scene.

Fresh Cow Pie #6 zine + CD

We found a bunch of these publications - a real zine including a compilation CD - while doing work in the basement. From way back in 2001. Zine features lots and lots of reviews, and an interview with a defense attorney working with people facing the death penalty. CD includes the following artists: Amp, Banana Fish Zero, Evie, Mothmus, Sorry About Dresden, Electric Jam Soul Aquarium, Spooky J, Xiu Xiu, The Spectral Light & Moonshine Firefly Snakeoil Jamboree, Charlie Brown Gets a Valentine, Blitzhosen, Melochrome, Snake Forcefield, Hopewell, and The Enola Gays.

I'm guessing this has to be rare, but I'm not really sure.

Fulci "Dead Lights / Red Sky" CrucialBliss001 CDr

The first recorded offering from twilight-psyche dronerock duo FULCI. Deep, rumbling, and eternal speaker-buzz worship, wrapped around lumbering riffs drunk on cough syrup and shimmering distortion overload. Howling feedback mantras repeated ad infinitum. Major key rustic lullabies are reduced to primal string scraping drones that climb over mountains of echoing hum. Intensely melodic and repetitious, like SKULLFLOWER covering EARTH 2 in an old, empty farmhouse. FULCI is Eric Crowe (formerly of Social Infestation, currently of Marax) and Adam Wright (head of Crucial Blast). Former members of Leviathan A.D. and The Bodybag Romance assisted on bass and drums, respectively. Mastered by Scott Hull at Visceral Sound. Part of the great Crucial Bliss CDr series - comes in DVD-type packaging
